POST-HOLIDAY PARTUM... WHAT TO DO WHEN THE LIGHTS DIE DOWN

Holiday is soon to be over so let's get some reality check. Here's Chasing Anna Wintour's checklist of what to do when he gets back in the city and hopes to share it with y'all:

10. check bank account

parties after parties after parties and shopping after shopping after shopping, it's time to update your bank books, to reflect, analyze, re-evaluate and meditate how you can recover that holiday expenses.

9. prep and make plans for the Vday

i must admit, Valentines Day is the next big holiday. Not actually a holi
day but the next big event after New Year. If you're in a relationship, you might want to get your dog/bitch a shimmering gift. If you're single, like Anna, then you must book a trip far out of town where they don't celebrate Valentine's day and escape that dreadded day as all restraunts and malls are filled with coupling couples and heart-shaped decors which might remind you how alone, unlikable and miserable you are for being single. Each red heart -shaped baloon you see will hurt as if you're taking a bullet. Note to self: Saging! Saging! Saging lang ang my puso!

8. sale-a-thon

if you're going to reflect, analyze,
re-evaluate and meditate those holiday expenses, do it fast! Sales are coming up, and they're up to 75% off! Those Chloe dress might be on sale by then. One advice though, avoid the shops you have had pre-Cristmas shopped on, it won't feel good seeing those nice and expensive shoes you got yourself cut half in price.

7. skip the Feb issue of any magazine and save the cash

check out fashion blogs if you want a style dose, instead. February still falls under the Fall/Winter 09 and any intention to covet thy fave model's dress would be out in less than a month time. It's spring/summer come March.

6. revamp your wardrobe

which is exactly the reason why you should skip February issue. Ask your friendly stylists which trends to hit on summer and start picking up the piece/pace. Instead of catching up with the Goth holiday theme, get pieces which you can use when temps hit high. Not only it will make you fashion-forward, come summer, you have an entirely new summer wardrobe. Which reminds me to...

5. box all f/w 09 outfits

upon finding out which trends to hit summer, organize a TOSS-TAKE fashion show (think SATC movie) with your girlfriends and box those soon-to-be last season pieces. Keep in mind, though that Feb is the coldest time of the year in this side of the world as ice-caps melt up north and the wind blows down here creates cool breeze. (This is scienctifically proven so don't argue with it anymore.) Keep some warm clothes on the box to the left.

4. Plan your year ahead

I'm not saying that you fill up those not-so-cute Starbucks organizer you got until Dec '09. What I'm saying is list the things you want to do or achieve this year. Don't think of it as a New Year's resolution. If you do that, just refer to last year's. They're just probably the same.
I'm thinking, I'd be spending less on food and save the money for the summer holidays. Since I gained weight from all the lechons I devoured, I reckon, I'd be hitting 2 birds in one stone if i don't eat. I lose weight and fit in that Brazilian cut trunks (to oreder from Xeng Zulueta, check out her blog Purveyor of Beauty) like Ash come summer. Another 'plan' is to get myself richer this year. I don't have the how-to's of the details yet but I intend to do it The Secret's way: visualization
.

2. Re-connect

If you went out-of-town for the holidays, reconnect and rebond with your friends, neighbors, workplace friends, clients and everyone you missed this holiday. If you were with them the whole lot, why not try to reconnect with yourself. You must've missed you, by now.

And lastly:

1. hit the spa

Hanap ka na ng amo mo!

:P

That's Owl!
